- Thirty-six (36) researchers patronized the American Corner in the week under review. They were from the Faculties of Engineering, Management, SSLT, Basic Medical Science, Education, and Humanities.
- From Monday, 8th to Friday, 12th April 2024, the patronage of Donald Ekong Library showed a 43% decrease from seven thousand six hundred forty-three users (7,643) in the previous week to 2,643 users in the current week. This decrease can be attributed to the observance of the Eid-al-Adha Mubarak (Sallah) public holiday declared by the Federal Government.
- On Tuesday, 16th April 2024, the American Corner, Port Harcourt, organized four Programs.

- 1st Program: Interdisciplinary Research: This program was designed for participants to gain a broader perspective by learning from experts in different fields. The program also provided participants with a holistic and comprehensive understanding of issues that may require expertise from multiple areas.
- 2nd Program: Education-USA Orientation: The program provided information to participants on undergraduate and postgraduate admission processes and scholarship opportunities in the United States of America. The program attracted participants from the University and neighboring communities.
- 3rd Program: One Million Acts of Science: The program aims to mobilize participants and communities to contribute to scientific research and data collection. The program also emphasized the power of collaboration, inclusivity, and public participation in advancing scientific research, addressing societal challenges, and fostering a deeper connection between science and society.
- 4th Program: Women, Business, and the Law: The program provided participants with a global initiative that focused on analyzing laws and regulations affecting women’s economic participation across various countries. The initiative, led by the World Bank Group in collaboration with YALI Network, aims to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment by identifying legal barriers and opportunities for women in the business and economic spheres.

From Monday 15th – Friday 19th April 2024
- One hundred and Forty-four (144) researchers patronized the American Corner in the week under review. They were from the Faculties of Engineering, Management, SSLT, Basic Medical Science, Education, and Humanities.
- The Knowledge Commons (for undergraduates) and the Research Commons (for postgraduates) sections on the first floor of the Library are open to those who wish to access the Library’s electronic resources using the ICT facilities in the Library. Similarly, the Elsevier training laboratory on the second floor has internet access to all subscribed databases and is open to faculty members.
- The Library has received an update on proceedings in its Science Direct Database. https://www.sciencedirect.com The database provides researchers and registered library users with information resources for scientific, technical, and medical research. It offers full-text journal articles and book chapters from more than 2,500 peer-reviewed journals and 11,000 books.
- The Library has received an update of its HS Talks Database with new content: https://hstalks.com/. The database provides registered faculty members and researchers multimedia materials ranging from videos, audio, and animated audio-visual lectures centered on biomedical and life sciences and the business and management disciplines.
- The Library has received an update of its OnePetro Database with the new content. https://onepetro.org/journals. The database provides registered Faculty members and researchers with information on the oil and gas exploration and production industry.
- From Monday, 15th to Friday, 19th April 2024, the patronage of Donald Ekong Library showed a 34% increase from 2,643 users in the previous week to 7,673 users in the current week.
