  1. The University of Port Harcourt Bookshop is now operational at the Donald E. U. Ekong Library. Students, staff, and members of the university community are encouraged to visit for affordable textbooks, study materials, and stationery. Additionally, the Library provides an e-conference room with a seating capacity of 30, along with three adjoining side rooms. The e-conference room is ideal for committee meetings, project defences, workshops, and seminars.
  1. During the week, the Donald E. U. Ekong Library acquired daily editions of the following newspapers to keep staff and students informed about local and global developments: The Guardian, Daily Sun, Punch, Vanguard, The Telegraph, Business Day, and This Day. These current issues are available for consultation at the Reference Unit and in the foyer for all interested readers.
  1. The weekly statistics indicated a 3.44% increase in patronage, with the number of users increasing from 3252 in the previous week to 3364 in the current week.
  1. Donald E. U. Ekong Library maintained two shifts which run from 8:00 A.M – 9:00 P.M on weekdays, and 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Saturdays.
  1. The Knowledge Commons (for undergraduate students) and the Research Commons (for postgraduate students) are accessible to students and researchers who wish to utilise the Library’s e-resources. Similarly, the Elsevier training laboratory on the second floor of the Library has internet access to all subscribed databases and is accessible to faculty members.
  1. The Library has acquired MatLab. The MaTrics Laboratory (MatLab) is a proprietary multi-paradigm programming language and numeric computing environment that indicates matric manipulating and plotting functions, implementing algorithms, creating user, and interacting with programmes written in other languages.
  1. The Library has received updated content in the SpringerLink Database (https://www.springernature.com/gp). This data helps in the publication of robust and insightful research, supports the development of novel areas of knowledge, and makes information accessible globally.
  1. The Library is receiving updated content on the JSTOR Database (https://www.jstor.org). This database provides registered researchers with informative materials that cut across every discipline, including the sciences, social sciences, arts, education, technology, law, and other research-related disciplines.
  1. The library has received updated content on the AGORA database (https://www.fao.org/agora/en/). This database furnishes registered researchers and staff with information materials, journals, audio-visual materials, and other collections centred on agriculture and its related disciplines.
  1. The Library has received an update of its Scopus Database with the new content (https://www.scopus.com/home.uri). This database provides registered faculty members and researchers with the most extensive abstracts and cited database on peer-reviewed literature and information materials across disciplines.
  1. The American Corner Port Harcourt hosted three programmes including:
  2. i. EducationUSA programme: 5 Essential Steps for Studying in the United States, held on Wednesday, 13th August, 2025. The programme had 22 participants in attendance
  3. ii. Workshop series on Thriving in the Modern World of Work, held on Tuesday, 12th August, 2025. 43 persons participated in the programme.
  4. iii. The Conversation with an Alum featured the Impact Exchange Programmes on Personal Growth programme on Friday, 15th August, 2025. 40 persons attended the programme.
  1. The American Corner Port Harcourt (AC-PHC) has acquired a subscription to Chat Generative Predictive Text (ChatGPT) Artificial Intelligence. This AI is available for free at the AC-PHC for users.
  1. The ELibraryUSA databases are available to users, and they provide remote access to JSTOR, ProQuest, PressReader, Libby App, BookFlix, and Kanopy. Users are encouraged to register @ http://bit.lyregister4amspaces.
  2. The American Corner recorded three hundred and fifty (350) users in the week under review.
