DONALD EKONG LIBRARY WEEKLY REPORT
Monday 15th – Friday 19th July 2024
1. On Wednesday, 17th July 2024, the American Corner, Port Harcourt, organized three Programs:
1st Program: Nelson Mandela International Day: The program commemorates Nelson Mandela, the former President of South Africa, in recognition of his significant contributions to peace, freedom, and social justice. The program highlighted the power of individual action in driving change. It raised awareness about social issues and encouraged participants to contribute to positive transformation within their communities. Mandela’s legacy has continued to inspire people globally to pursue justice and create a more equitable world. The program also emphasized that every person can make a difference and contribute to the global community.
2nd Program: Education-USA Orientation: The program provided information to participants on undergraduate and postgraduate admission processes and scholarship opportunities in the United States of America. The program attracted participants from the University and neighbouring communities.
3rd Program: Conversation with an Alumnus: The program equipped participants with valuable insights, networking opportunities, and guidance regarding academic and career paths, industry trends, and professional development. These conversations help leverage the experiences and knowledge of a Fulbright scholar to support personal and professional growth.
