  1. On Monday, October 14th, an accreditation team led by Prof. Austin Osemwegie Obasohan from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN) was received by Mr. Jeremiah Ugwulebo, who represented the University Librarian in the Medical Library. The team was on ground to assess the Library’s collections in support of the program. The team inspected the physical collections and electronic databases in the Medical Library.
  2. The Central Library, Donald E.U Ekong Library, maintained two shifts from 8.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m. from Monday through Friday and a single shift from 9.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Medical Library maintained two (2) shifts, which ran from 8.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. Monday through Friday and a single shift from 9.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. on Saturday.
  3. In ACE-PUTOR Library, a program titled Mastering Online Resources for Research: Tips, Tricks, and Best Practices was held. The program was facilitated by the Coordinator of Branch Libraries, Dr. Mary IG-Worlu, in collaboration with Dr. Glory Edet and Dr. Millie Horsfall, the Heads of Readers Services and Information Services, respectively.
  4. One hundred and twenty-seven (127) researchers consulted the American Corner Port Harcourt resources in the week under review.
  5. On Wednesday, 16th October 2024, the American Corner, Port Harcourt, hosted the weekly Education-USA program. The program recorded an impressive attendance from students of the University of Port Harcourt.
  6. On Thursday, 17th October 2024, another program titled Conversation with an Alum was anchored. Students from various Faculties graced the event.
  7. The weekly statistics show an increase of 45.2% in patronage from three thousand one hundred and forty-eight (3,148) recorded in the week before to four thousand five hundred and seventy (4570) recorded in the present week.
  8. The Knowledge Commons (for undergraduate students) and the Research Commons (for Postgraduate students) are accessible to students and researchers who wish to utilize the e-resources of the Library. Similarly, the Elsevier training laboratory on the Library’s second floor has internet access to all subscribed databases and is accessible to faculty members.
  1. The Library has acquired MatLab. The MaTrics Laboratory (MatLab) is a proprietary multiparadigm programming language and numeric computing environment that indicates matric manipulating and plotting functions-abc data, implementing algorithms, creating users, and interacting with programs written in other languages.
  2. The Library has received updated content in the OnePro database: https://onepetro.org/journals. This database furnishes registered researchers and faculty members with information on the oil and gas exploration and production industry.
  3. The Library has received an update on its Scopus Database with new content (https://www.scopus.com/home.uri). This database provides registered faculty members and researchers with the most extensive abstracts and cited databases on peer-reviewed literature and information materials across disciplines.
  4. The Library has received updated content from the AGORA database (https://www.fao.org/agora/en/). This database furnishes registered researchers and staff with information materials, journals, audiovisual materials, and other collections centered on agriculture and its related disciplines.
